a safe space for

Growth, Imagination,
and Healing

At 2nd Star Counseling, I believe therapy is a collaborative, creative process—one that honors both the pain and the possibility in each person’s story.

Whether I’m working with a child through symbolic play, supporting a teen navigating identity, or helping a parent reconnect with their family, I meet our clients with compassion, curiosity, and clinical care.

Meet Kathryn

NCC, LPC, RPT-S, ACS

I am dedicated to assisting you in this process. In an open and honest manner, I will work with you to find the answers to questions surrounding relationships, sadness, and day-to-day intentional living. Using techniques from client-centered therapy, my belief is in growth realized through a relationship of realness, caring, and listening.

I see my approach as primarily analytical, attempting to create, using a symbolic approach, a dialectical relationship between consciousness, and the unconscious. We can use dreams and imagery to increase awareness, as well as some body awareness for symptomatic relief. Play Therapy techniques encourage children in honest and open expression of emotion through the language of play. I believe all families struggle at some time, and I am here to support and assist them with intervention, maintenance, and how best our collaboration can be useful to you.

The Space

The Lafayette office offers a warm and thoughtfully curated environment, including:

  • A dedicated play therapy room for children
  • A calming talk therapy room for teens and adults
  • A welcoming waiting area that feels safe and quiet
  • Tools for creative expression, sand play, and sensory regulation

The Approach

I offer developmentally attuned, trauma-informed, and depth-oriented therapy. My work is shaped by modalities such as:

  • Play Therapy – for children to process experiences through imagination and metaphor
  • Jungian and Symbolic Work – to help clients explore deeper layers of the psyche
  • Client-centered Therapy – grounded in respect, empathy, and presence
  • Somatic, Expressive, and Creative Approaches – such as sand tray, art, and dreamwork

Whether I’m working with an individual or an entire family system, I aim to create a space where healing unfolds at its own pace—naturally, respectfully, and with care.
